Why is the land frozen? Why has the thaw not come? We didn’t need another winter so soon. We can't afford sentimentality, we have to survive and live what is left. Eighteen hundred and froze to death. A fragment cloud of tephra erupting from Mount Tambora. Our bright sun was extinguished. What was created sticks in the mind, not what was lost; the modern prometheus will attest. Eighteen hundred and froze to death. We can’t keep on in this way.
